The Muskegon River Watershed Assembly is dedicated to the preservation, protection, restoration, and sustainable use of the Muskegon River, the land it drains, and the life it supports, through educational, scientific and conservation initiatives.

Voyage of Discovery

The MRWA is planning a canoe/kayak trip down the entire length of the Muskegon River on June 8 through 18. Our core group of paddlers will be by invitation only but the public is invited to join the group on a day's trip or a segment of the trip. Our group plans to leave around 8:30 a.m. each day. The tentative schedule is:

June 8 - begin at the lake level control structure of Houghton Lake. Kickoff event will be held at Reedsburg Dam at noon. First night will be spent at Ben D. Jeffs Park.

June 9 - Ben D. Jeffs Park to Lowe Bridge

June 10 - Lowe Bridge (Dolph Rd.) to Leota

June 11 - Leota to Old Log Resort

June 12 - Old Log Resort to Evart

June 13 - Evart (Riverside Park) to Big Rapids

June 14 - Big Rapids (Northend Park) to Brower's Park

June 15 - Brower's Park to Croton Dam

June 16 - Croton Dam to Newaygo

June 17 - Newaygo (Henning Park) to Maple Island

June 18 - Maple Island (road access) to Fisherman's Landing on Muskegon Lake (see preliminary trip on 4-9-11)- Celebration at 2:00 p.m.
